Dubstep!

I taught unit on Dubstep to the Digital Music class at Bronx Science. I am in NO WAY a Dubstep practitioner, but I wanted to teach the students how to design sounds (we used the ES 2 synthesizer in Logic Pro). Overall, I think the project was successful. I definitely learned a fair amount about writing a rubric and planning lesson sequences. I also had pretty terrible aims and do nows on a couple of days. Great learning for all! NEVER STOP LEARNING! HUH!

  1. It's great that your are using technology in your teaching, and using it to teach styles of music that students probably like. Do students have access to Logic Pro at their school? or it was more of a demonstration kind of thing?
Either way, technology is getting more accessible and more students are going to have access to good software to make music. Do you know of Soundation?

  2. The students all have access to computers at school with Logic Pro. I do not know about Soundation. What is it?

  3. It is a free online music program, similar to Logic Pro, but basically the only thing you need is a computer and access to the internet to be able to use it! They a have a lot of free loops and if you want more loops you pay for them. http://soundation.com/
